PLANNED OUTINGS
The Troop has an outing planned for every month of the year — Scouts are strongly encouraged to participate --- “outing is 3⁄4 of scouting”— it is here that scouts practice their scout skills and hone their leadership abilities. Outings most commonly include camping and cooking; other type outings are also included as chosen by scouts.
Due to the current situation with the pandemic, our outings have been modified into "micro-outings" to take place closer to home (to eliminate carpooling) and of a shorter duration. We practice social distancing during all our outings. Examples of outings we have done during the pandemic are canoeing trips, hikes, one-night campouts and cycling.

Additional outings and other opportunities are announced at Troop meetings and every Sunday in the e-newsletter as they are organized by the PLC, so be sure to keep monitoring for new opportunities or changes to these events.

Here are examples of outings that we have done as a troop in recent years:
Summer Camp - Goshen
Nearby Overnights - Video Game Campout, Izaak Walton, High Ropes Courses, Paw Paw Canoe Trip, Guppy Gulch, Bears Den, Kings Dominion
Further Distances - Seaside Heights Camporee (Beach), Battleship New Jersey
Hikes - Old Rag, Manassas Battlefield, Big Schloss, Washington DC History Hike
Day Trips - Top Golf, Cycling on W&OD, Orienteering
High Adventure - Northern Tier, Maine High Adventure
We also do regular canoe trips to local lakes and the Potomac River because the Troop owns 10 canoes.
